On Wednesday 30th January, UK Flood Barriers are sponsoring and exhibiting at the CIWEM conference, ‘Delivering Flood Schemes Funding, Partnerships and Opportunities - Emerging lessons’ at SOAS, Russell Square, London.
The aim of this conference is to take stock of the changes that have taken place in the funding, planning and delivery of Flood and Coastal Risk Management schemes in the UK and seek to determine both the successes and blockers identified during initial application of the process.
With such important topics up for discussion representatives from both DEFRA and the Environment Agency along with local authorities are presenting to discuss their own experiences and challenges.
As part of the conference one of the projects highlighted by the Environment Agency is Cockermouth, where we have worked together on the ground breaking installation of 115 linear metres of our passive flood defence system. We will be exhibiting with a live working model of the passive flood defence system, part of the self closing flood barrier range, showcasing this unique system in action and discussing our involvement in the Cockermouth scheme.
