Tonbridge Indoor Bowls Club, a club funded entirely by its members opened in 1992. It’s not just used as a place to play bowls, the club is known as a ‘social hub’ in the community used as a go to place for gatherings and regular evening events.
During Christmas 2013 the club buildings were devastated by flooding. Constant heavy rain on Christmas Eve led to 3ft of water seeping into the building causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. The club was closed for almost 9 months. It was clear defence measures needed to be adopted to protect the club against the future flooding events.
The club features a number of onsite facilities including a restaurant and bar. It was therefore important that consideration was given to all areas. The Flood Angel® Steel Security Fire and Flood Door was the appropriate solution for the club ensuring 24/7 protection against fire and flood as well as security. Seven doors were installed in total protecting an entrance, a number of fire exits and onsite facilities.
Installation took two weeks to complete with the hope of the club being in a position to reopen later in the summer.
