The backflow (non-return) valve protects lower located rooms against flooding caused by return flow of sewage waters. Such risk occurs most often in sanitary drainage systems connected to combined sewerage systems and in rainwater drainage systems. It may be caused by intense rainfall, thaw or flood.

In normal operation the system is fully open allowing solids to flow freely and unrestricted through the valve, the efficiency of movement is also improved by in-built flow wings in the valve body.

Because of its fully open design the valve offers no restriction to Cleaning Rods, thus facilitating drain maintenance and the clearing of blockages further down the branch.  Air is allowed to circulate freely through the valve and drainage system eliminating the risk of gas build-up or smells.

In the event of water surging back through the pipes or in flood conditions, the backflow automatically lifts a gate within the valve which shuts against a neoprene gasket seal and prevents backflow past the valve.

Thanks to its unique flotation devices the valve is equally effective against gradual backflow and fast surges.

Our backflow valves are virtually maintenance free and only require periodic inspection.  The units have a built-in main sewer cleanout point, eliminating the need for an adjacent rodding eye and are available with a clear see-through lid to facilitate inspection.

The valve design has won numerous awards and has been described as the most innovative and effective solution to sewage backflow available.

Integral stop points within the wing of the gate, plus built-in flow channels, combine to direct the water and sewage cleanly through the valve protecting it from blockages resulting from a build-up of solids.

When back-flow occurs, the water is diverted underneath the gate, via special channels, causing the gate to close automatically against the integrated ‘O’ ring seal.

Coupled with the unique in-built flotation devices, the dual-action protection means that the valve functions whether the back-flow occurs as a steady flow or as a fast surge.

The Back-Flow Valve is simple to fit.  You will require a 450mm circular inspection chamber, cover (dependent upon installation point, you may need a heavy duty cover for driveways or simply one for soft landscaping) and possibly risers which are available from all UK Flood Barriers Limited.

1 year manufacturers guarantee.  UK Flood Barriers cannot be held responsible for incorrect self-installation of product.

Periodic checks especially after heavy rainfall.

Remove inspection chamber lid.

Run all water fixtures and appliances to ensure all run through the back flow valve and that no blockages have occurred.

If a blockage remove the rodding eye lid and clean away.  Screw lid back on and replace inspection chamber lid.
