Contracting

Working in partnership with our sister company, specialist flood consultancy UKFB International, we deliver high profile flood mitigation contracts for a wide range of private sector clients including leading players in the utilities and transport sectors as well as community contracts for local authorities and the Environment Agency.

Our contract management expertise also extends to installing flood mitigation measures to commercial outlets, retail parks, restaurant and leisure facilities, public sector and municipal buildings, as well as national infrastructure.

We are highly experienced at managing the ‘end to end’ contract process. From the initial briefing by the design team through to handover, testing and ongoing maintenance if required, our expert contracts team will deliver every stage efficiently and effectively.

We will also fully assess contract requirements and secure any specialist subcontractors to perform elements of the construction work as appropriate.

We are well used to working alongside some of the UK’s leading contractors to deliver high profile flood mitigation projects including Kier, Volker Stevin, Amey & Balfour Beatty.

We understand the importance of both client and end customer communication and all our staff are trained to ensure interaction is always timely and accurate.

Survey

On commercial & infrastructure projects, where appropriate, the UK Flood Barriers team work closely with their UKFB International colleagues to Survey the property or environment to be protected.

Both teams are highly experienced and their construction and engineering backgrounds mean they will always thoroughly explore issues so they recommend cost effective, tailored solutions that will meet the specific needs of each individual location.

As well as identifying how flood water can enter a building, the Survey will also identify the most effective protection measures, some of which will be ‘off the shelf’ but many of which will be individually designed by the UKFB International design team.

There are clearly times when the solution is not product-led but requires the construction of an alternative form of hard defence, such as bund walls, de-watering systems, or re-landscaping. Our team of structural engineers, civil engineers, CAD designers and On Site Contracts team members are well experienced in all such areas.

Installation & Testing

Once designed and manufactured, the UK Flood Barriers Contracts team take over responsibility for installation.

They will liaise with the main project contractor and appoint specialist support contractors as required; develop the works programme; implement effective client and end customer communication and install all flood mitigation measures to industry leading standards.

The UK Flood Barriers Contracting team prides itself on delivering a full ‘end to end’ offer. Once mitigation measures have been installed, comprehensive testing is undertaken to ensure all products perform to their optimum level.

Site Management

We appreciate the importance of efficient site management in both the successful delivery of a project and the management of resident expectations. We will ensure residents only ever have one point of contact on our projects; this maintains strong and effective lines of communication between the householder, the lead client and their chosen contractors /consultants.

For the duration of the project, we maintain a visible presence within the community. Our head office Customer Service Team is available to answer homeowner queries if an on-site representative isn’t available.

Training & Maintenance

The clear advantage of passive flood mitigation measures is that the training required on product deployment is minimal.

The UK Flood Barriers team and their UKFB International colleagues will always ensure the operation of each product is fully explained and where appropriate technical documents and specifications will be provided.

To ensure ongoing, long-term product efficiency, appropriate maintenance is obviously crucial.

Typically a maintenance programme/instructions will have been agreed in the design development stages, however where required full care and maintenance instructions will be provided.
